From Melbourne, Australia Post publishes 3 to 6 business days for Parcel Post and 1 to 3 or more business days for Express Post on interstate routes such as Western Australia. Orders of $100 or more ship by express at no charge.
Delivery times to Perth and Western Australia
These are Australia Post's published interstate ranges, counted in business days following the day of posting, so weekends do not count. They are the carrier's estimates, not a guarantee, and it says actual speed depends on where in the state a parcel is going and on congestion in its network.
| Service and charge | Published range |
|---|---|
| Standard by Parcel Post, $9.99 | 3 to 6 business days |
| Express by Express Post, $14.99, free from $100 | 1 to 3 or more business days |

Express Post next business day postcodes
Australia Post lists these postcodes in Western Australia on its next business day network. Eligibility depends on the postcode a parcel is posted from and the one it is going to, so you can check a pair in its online calculator. We do not promise next business day delivery.
- Perth CBD: 6000-6005, 6800-6892
Dispatch
Order before 1 pm Melbourne time, Monday to Friday, for same-day dispatch. Orders placed from 1 pm go out the next weekday, so orders from 1 pm Friday and over the weekend are dispatched on Monday. Every parcel is tracked, and we email you when it is on its way. The delivery charge and the order total are shown at checkout before you pay.
About delivering to Western Australia
Western Australia is on the far side of the country from Melbourne, and Perth is treated differently from the other large capitals on Australia Post's list. Its Express Post next business day network reaches Perth only for delivery into the CBD, which it lists as postcodes 6000 to 6005 and 6800 to 6892.
That leaves the Perth suburbs outside the next business day list. Subiaco (6008), Joondalup (6027), Midland (6056), Fremantle (6160), Rockingham (6168) and Mandurah (6210) are all outside it. So for most Perth addresses, the short end of the Express Post range is unlikely, and it makes sense to plan on 2 or 3 business days or more even though the published range starts at 1.
Beyond the metropolitan area the distances grow quickly. Bunbury (6230), Albany (6330), Kalgoorlie (6430), Geraldton (6530), Karratha (6714), Port Hedland (6721) and Broome (6725) are all served, because Australia Post covers every address in Australia, but none is on the next business day list. In the Pilbara, the Kimberley and the Goldfields, treat the long end of both ranges as the realistic plan, and the plus sign on the Express Post figure as a real possibility.
If you need supplies by a particular date in Western Australia, order earlier than you would in an eastern capital. The time difference works against you too, as the first question below explains.

Questions from Perth
What time is the 1 pm cut-off in Perth?
Earlier than it looks. Western Australia does not use daylight saving, so 1 pm in Melbourne is 10 am in Perth from early October to early April, and 11 am for the rest of the year. An order placed at lunchtime in Perth has already missed that day's dispatch and goes out the next weekday.
Will express reach Perth the next business day?
Only postcodes in Australia Post's Perth CBD list can qualify, and even then it depends on congestion in the network at the time. Suburban and regional Western Australian addresses are outside the list. Express is still worth having on this route, because Parcel Post is published at 3 to 6 business days, but do not plan around next business day.
Is delivery to Western Australia charged extra?
No. The delivery charge is the same to every Australian address, and the free express threshold applies in Western Australia as it does everywhere else. That makes the free express threshold more valuable here, since express is the service that makes the bigger difference over this distance.
Do Western Australian public holidays affect delivery?
They can, since Australia Post counts business days. Labour Day in Western Australia is the first Monday in March, Western Australia Day is the first Monday in June, and the King's Birthday is set separately from most other states, usually in late September. Allow an extra day if one falls while your order is in transit.
Returns
Unopened, sealed items can be returned within 14 days of delivery if you change your mind, and faulty, damaged or incorrect items are replaced or refunded under the Australian Consumer Law. Read the delivery and returns information.
AUBACWATER has no premises in Perth: orders are placed online and delivered. Own-label bacteriostatic water is supplied for laboratory use and is not for injection, infusion or administration.
